    Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People is accepting registrations for our 2009/2010 series of three professional development workshops for teachers, teacher candidates and arts educators! This year workshops will focus on drama and literacy, meaningful storytelling and creating an inclusive and creative classroom.

    In this workshop participants will learn how to create and execute a docudrama unit intended to teach students to create stories using primary sources and research and inquiry skills.

    A dynamic enrichment opportunity for experienced drama teachers in a reflective and productive environment.  The course will provide a professional learning community that will offer participants a chance to expand their knowledge and skills and share strengths for the benefit of others.

    This 6 day course provides participants with the opportunity to:
    • participate in high quality relevant workshops
    • share Resources
    • plan Units within a creative community environment
    • expand their network of teaching professionals and artists
    • the opportunity to enjoy great live theatre at North America’s leading classical theatre
    • engage in stimulating discussions

    All this in a quaint town, rich in artistry and creativity, that will serve as the perfect environment for learning and growth.

    COST:
    $350.00 per participant (not including accommodation and meals)

    PARTICIPATION INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
    1. Participants are to bring resources to share with other participants – this will be in the form of a display which you will put together for the group to peruse. This can include text books, teacher resources, Participants are asked to bring possible resources that can serve as launching points for lesson plan and unit development. This can include – storybooks, newspaper and magazine articles, pictures, content of this can involve things like historical events, social issues, popular culture, character development components, curriculum components. The list of possibilities are endless.
    2. Participants will bring an example of 3 warm up games that will be distributed to all participants and they will be prepared to lead the group in their warm up. Please bring 30 copies so that all participants will get a copy.
    3. Participants are prepared to work in a small group to develop a unit.
    4. All work produced will be posted on the CODE web site for the benefit of all our members and contributors will be acknowledged.
